Life Bloom’s team is in Suswa, Narok County for a 3-day visit, to monitor the progress of the ongoing project. The objectives of the February visit are; 1. To follow-up on the well-being of the peer mentors through open sharing of experiences, 2. To partially hand over the project to the stakeholders who have offered us their great support to actualize this project.
Early marriages, child Labor and Female Genital Mutilation are practices against the rights of children, and which are widely practiced in the communities of this region. Our efforts to eradicate them have included community sensitization against these human rights violations, encouraging the children to be the first to report such cases to relevant authorities, offering educational support, working with community leaders like the chief and head teachers of the schools, and setting up a Rescue Centre where at risk children can seek refuge before further action to support them can be taken.
During day one of the visit, team members held group discussions with the beneficiaries to monitor their well-being. Furthermore, they also had photo sessions to bond and create memories with them.
