During day 2 of the Suswa Visit, Life Bloom’s team met with the women beneficiaries who were equally overjoyed to see them, to discuss the sustainability of their chicken rearing project. Originally, the project was started to empower the women economically, build their resilience and use the project as psychological therapy against their challenges.
During the early stages of their project (July-October), our team conducted capacity building for the women, on starting and sustaining a chicken rearing project.
While sharing laughter, experiences and a cup of tea, the chief (a key stakeholder), our team and the women discussed the following:
– What they were to do with the eggs laid by the chicken.
– The plan to enlarge their chicken coop to accommodate more chicken.
– How to use the income generated from sales of eggs and chicken to support their children’s education.
With these sustainability ideas, the women will keep growing their initiative to better their livelihoods and that of their children.
