We at Life Bloom continue to live up to our commitment of offering the GIFT of professional counselling (mental health) services to at least 50 clients from the very marginalized sections of our communities. These are adult women/men and girls/boys who would, in normal circumstances, not have access to or afford counselling services.
At one of our partner Primary schools within Naivasha Sub County, our counsellor and staff Caroline moderated a counselling session for school children aged between 11-13 years. The use of stories for counselling enhanced opening up and in-depth sharing among the children.
The children created and enjoyed the safe spaces where compassionate empathy and support for one another was experienced. Some children left the session with “way-forward or action points” on some of the challenges they were experiencing. Three of the children followed through with the counsellor for one-on-one counselling sessions.
By sharing these gifts, alongside the 44 Children Peer Counsellors trained and graduated in 2024, Life Bloom is deliberately working toward achieving the goals of IWD: to create a world where women (and men) feel empowered, supported, and equipped to thrive. We’re proud to be part of this important journey. This and other sessions were some of the many ways we contributed to building a more inclusive and compassionate community.
