In Suswa Kenya where we are implementing a project in partnership with Her Future Coalition, we have witnessed first-hand Gender Inequality. The community in the region is patriarchal leading to women and girls being undervalued. They face retrogressive cultural practices like early marriages, and forms of violence like Female Genital Mutilation which create a large gap towards Equality.
This is why Life Bloom pioneered an approach which has made children the agents of change in their communities. We have trained 44 of them on basic skills in peer counseling, to help them identify cases of children facing these forms of violence and exploitation and escalate them to teachers and community leaders for support. We plan to keep working with children both male and female towards Gender Equality!
